Due to the high number of motorcycle cases we handle each year, Bryan W. Crews, Esq. & Ricardo Pesquera, Esq. want to inform everyone of Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. As motorcycle attorneys, Mr. Crews & Mr. Pesquera want everyone to be as educated as possible about motorcycle safety because we all deserve safe roads.

Drivers should always follow these simple rules when sharing the road with motorcycles, especially here in Florida.

*Always check your blind spots for motorcycles when changing lanes.

*Since motorcycle speeds are difficult for automobile drivers to judge, please remember a motorcycle can appear to be further away than it acutally is.

*Because motorcycle signals are not self-canceling, if a motorcycle has its turn signal on that doesn’t necessarily mean there is an immediate intention to turn or change lanes.

*Motorcycles have a right to the entire lane in which they are traveling. It is not uncommon to frequently move within the lane due to road debris, adjacent vehicles, curves and undulations of the road, and many other factors.

*Drivers of automobiles and trucks must always give enough distance when following a motorcycle. It is a common misconception that motorcycles can “stop on a dime.”

If we all operate within the rules of the road, we can all share the roads safely and securely.

Enjoy Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month!

Mr. Crews,

I want to thank you for representing me in my case against [a local hospital]. Having you on my side was incredibly reassuring. Your guidance and legal expertise were priceless, and I appreciate you, both professionally and personally. Mr. Crews, you were extremely thorough in reviewing the facts surrounding this case with me and explaining each document that I was required to sign. The team collected reams of medical information concerning my case (Gwen Black and Su Jacob- thank you). I am especially grateful for the time Mr. Crews spent with me explaining in detail what would take place during my deposition. The case went to mediation and Mr. Crews was superb in his rapport with the mediator and his negotiations with a room full of executives the the attorney represent the defendants. Overall the quality of the attention and service I received was second to none. Based on the excellent handling of my case, I would highly recommend the service of Bryan W. Crews of Crews & Pesquera.

Texting and other electronic usage cause up to 25% of all car crashes, according to a report by the Governors Highway Safety Association, a nonprofit group working to improve traffic safety. Put another way, nearly 5,500 vehicular-related deaths can be attributed to distracted driving, such as texting, according to a 2009 study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Drivers who text while driving are 23 times more likely to be involved in a car crash, according to Virgina Tech Transportation Institute. So if you’re on the road, it’s best to know the warning signs of a potential texting driver.

Texting, or using your smartphone in general, while driving is a form of distracted driving. As such, many of the warning signs of a texter are the same as those of drunken or fatigued drivers. Experts, mostly police officers, told USA Today that those warning signs include:

*Drivers going much faster than the speed limit or flow of traffic.

*Drivers going much slower than the speed limit or flow of traffic.

*Drivers who needlessly change speeds.

*Drivers who stop longer than needed at a traffic light or traffic sign.

*Drivers who weave through traffic.

*Drivers who can’t maintain lane position.

Building on nearly three decades worth of personal injury trail experience, Bryan W. Crews, Esq., is proud to announce the results of his three latest motorcycle accident cases. All cases are bound by a confidentiality agreement guarding the identity of the party but Mr. Crews is able to publish the results he achieved for each client.

Our first client was a 27-year old active duty service member that was on leave visiting friends in Florida. While operating his motorcycle safely and legally, our client was struck by a vehicle that crossed a double yellow line, infringing on our client’s right of way, and violently struck the combat veteran. Our client was rushed to a trauma center where he was treated for injuries including, but not limited to, a closed head injury, collapsed lung, shattered right wrist, and a fractured nose. Our client underwent multiple surgeries despite having breathing tubes in both lungs at one time. Mr. Crews successfully represented the young man’s interests and secured the maximum policy limits of $250,000.00! Happy with his representation, our client is now nearly fully recovered and attempting to be reinstated to active duty with the Army. Mr. Crews found it a pleasure to represent the young man and remarked it was his honor to represent one of America’s selfless young heroes.

Our second client was a gentleman in his early 50’s who was operating his motorcycle when he was negligently struck by a vehicle. Our client was forced to spend over three weeks in a trauma unit due to injuries arising from this accident. Through no fault of his own, our client sustained a near complete tear of the ACL, a right sacral fracture, bilateral shoulder injury, and multiple contusions and abrasions. These significant injuries required multiple surgeries- both emergent and pre-planned. Mr. Crews demand his client receive full policy limits of $500,000.00 and the demand was met without resistance. Our client thanked Mr. Crews profusely because the injuries and needless pain and suffering were represented fully and faithfully by Mr. Crews and his staff.

The final and most recent recovery for a client concerneda young man in South Florida. While riding his bike on I-95, our client was bumped by a driver operating a taxi cab. Our client sustained multiple injuries one would expect from high speed crash. He had a fracture of his foot, ankle sprain, multiple abrasions and contusions to his hands, feet, and legs, all of which required treatment at a Palm Beach county trauma center. Luckily, none of these injuries were life-threatening and our client has already made a full recovery. Mr. Crews was able to attain the full fair market value for the totalled bike and was able to attain the policy limits of $25,000.00. The client, now recovered, happy, and healthy, thanked Mr. Crews for quick resolution to his case.

Disclaimer: Due to confidentiality agreed to by both our clients and the defendants, all parties will herein remain nameless.

One of the hardest parts of Mr. Crews’s business is sitting across the table from a family when their loved one has been needlessly taken due to a corporation’s negligence. Bryan W. Crews’s most recent multi-million dollar settlement was one of these bittersweet moments that no one wishes had come to pass. The facts of this tragic case began when our client was driving home from his overnight shift to get his 3 children ready and off to school. While the deceased was operating his vehicle safely, a semi-tractor trailer pulled out into oncoming traffic, blocked north and southbound lanes of a major highway in rural central Florida, and violated our client’s right-of-way. Unfortunately, our client was unable to avoid the collision and lost his life. The Crews investigative team of trial professionals and auto accident experts were immediately called in to represent the family of the dead father of three girls. Through hard work, earnest representation, and a heavy heart as the father of four, Mr. Crews attained millions of dollars in lifetime compensation for this grievous and unnecessary loss.

Though no amount of money will return the deceased to his children, the family was extremely pleased to know and experience the devotion of cause and aggressive representation provided by Crews & Pesquera, P.A. Mr. Crews hopes you never have to be in the position in which this family found themselves, but if you do, always know that wrongful death cases arising from the negligence of commercial or private vehicles are handled with decades of experience and great care by Mr. Crews. Also, remember that no one will work harder to attain fair and just compensation for your own personal loss.

Bryan W. Crews, Esq. wins over $115,000 in jury trial!

On May 11, 2011, Crews & Pesquera, PA, led in trial by Managing Partner Bryan W. Crews, attained a jury verdict of $109,099 for client Jose Burgos. Mr. Burgos, a retired, successful entrepreneur, was injured in Feb. 2007 while at Manny’s Chophouse. There to make a Valentine’s Day for him and his wife of over 50 years, Delia, Mr. Burgos slip and fell on a mat that was placed over a recently mopped floor. He suffered injuries that included a rotator cuff tear that required surgery. Before trial, the defense only offered $15,000 for Mr. Burgos’ past and future medical bills and his pain and suffering. The jury believed Mr. Burgos was entitled to more and awarded him a jury verdict of $109,00! Mr. Crewsalso beat the original judgment offer of $69,000 thereby entitling the law firm of Crews & Pesquera, P.A. to additional costs and fees. This will allow Mr. Crews to pass along even more funds to Mr. Burgos. Though a proud and strong man, Mr. Burgos tearfully thanked Mr. Crews for helping him and his family.
